Firstly, we would like to thank NTU for including Nottingham Trent University UNISON branch in the initial discussions regarding National Pay Bargaining and the possibility of NTU leaving UCEA to pursue a local bargaining agreement. We appreciate being part of those discussions.
Our preference was to remain within national bargaining. However, we are acutely aware that the decision for NTU to continue its membership within UCEA was out of our hands, and we strongly believed from our discussions recently that it was NTU's preference to leave national bargaining and begin local pay negotiations; this has proven to be correct.
With this in mind, it is our intention to approach any local pay negotiations with an open mind, with the aim of securing our members the best possible outcome. The next step is for the branch committee to canvas members' opinions on what they require from the pay negotiations. We welcome any comments from our members and can be reached via email or through social media.
